Brent and I have returned from an absolutely incredible trip to Ghana! It is very encouraging to see the powerful impact we were able to have in the lives of the children A Better Life for Kids supports. We were so blessed to be able to make many significant improvements to the orphanage through the Malaria Project! Many thanks to our incredible donors and the generous support we received that made this meaningful work possible! The focus of our trip was to fight malaria, the leading cause of death for children in Ghana. It is such a dangerous, yet preventable disease. Most of the screens protecting the children from malaria carrying mosquitoes at the orphanage had severe tears and large holes in them, and some were missing entirely, including on windows just feet away from the cribs the babies and toddlers sleep in! We replaced the screens on 12 doors and 40 windows, distributed mosquito nets to our sponsored children and educated them on the importance of using them every night, and purchased life-saving malaria medicine to treat affected children. Below you can see some before and after pictures of our work.
