Part of the reason Shelley came to this orphanage five years ago was because of these children. They had been praying and looking for a way to help them and on this trip found a way. They visited two different deaf boarding schools and saw that the children there all knew proper sign language and could effectively communicate with each other. Both schools also offered vocational courses after the completion of senior high school in order to teach the deaf students a trade they can learn as a way to earn money after they graduate. This included classes in dress making, hair styling, catering, and cloth dying. They knew immediately that they needed to find a way to raise sponsorship and get the eight deaf children here.
Shelley and Brent spent some meaningful time with the orphanage children as well. They were blessed to be able to purchase a significant amount of food, medicine, baby formula, and other important items such as a freezer to store meat and provide a more long-term solution to the food shortage. This was possible due to the money raised by the children in Shelley's school district. This generous financial donation provided life-changing supplies for the orphanage. Thank you so much!
Shelley and Brent visited many of the sponsored children in the Northern Tribal Region to encourage them in their studies. They were able to go to several of the sponsored children's schools and hear first-hand from their teachers how they are performing in class. It was powerful seeing how much impact A Better Life for Kids is truly making in the lives of these children.
